ESBI Engineer wins Chartered Engineer of the Year
Congratulations to Louise Connolly, ESBI Engineer who was named Chartered Engineer of the Year 2011 by Engineers Ireland. Louise, who, is the first female to win this award, was announced the winner at the Engineers Ireland Excellence Awards on Friday 4 November 2011.
Each of the six finalists was interviewed by an adjudication panel and made a presentation to a public meeting of Engineers Ireland on their showcase engineering project. Louise’s project related to the gas pipeline to the Carrington Power Plant, Manchester, UK.
Louise graduated from Cork Institute of Technology in 2004 with an honours degree in mechanical engineering and joined ESB International as a graduate engineer. She is currently a consultant engineer in ESBI Engineering’s Power Plant Department and works on Irish and international power plant and gas pipeline projects
Michael Fox, Manager ESBI Engineering, congratulating Louise on her achievement, commented that, “her success reflects very well on herself, staff involved in the Carrington project and all staff in ESBI.”
Congratulations also to Michael Loughnane, Manager Leadership and People Development, ESB Human Resources, who was named Engineers Ireland Volunteer of the Year for his for his voluntary services to Engineers Ireland.
Pat O’Doherty addressed attendees at the awards ceremony, his first official function as CEO designate of ESB.
