Mr. David Costello, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Ireland, Romania recently visited the Brazi 860MWe Combined Cycle Power Plant that ESBI is working on in Romania.

The plant, which is located in Prahova County near Ploiesti City, is the first large scale gas-fired combined cycle power plant to be built in Romania.  It will use the latest General Electric 9FB advanced heavy duty gas turbine technology. ESBI is providing Owner’s Engineer (OE) consultancy services, to OMV/Petrom, for the construction and commissioning of this plant.

OMV is Austria’s largest oil producing, refining and gas station operating company with important activities in other Central European countries.

Petrom, a Romanian oil company, is the largest corporation in Romania and the largest gas and oil producer in Eastern Europe.

The Plant is expected to go into commercial operation during late 2011 and will have the capability to provide 10% of the Romanian grid requirements.
